PROUTS NECK AUDUBON SOCIETY
Our mission is to conserve, restore and promote the natural ecosystems of the Phineas W. Sprague Memorial Sanctuary on Stratton and Bluff Islands, in partnership with the National Audubon Society's Seabird Institute, and on the Prouts Neck peninsula in order to preserve the diversity and sustainability of the seabirds and other wildlife that inhabit these uniquely beautiful places.
To fulfill our mission, we raise funds annually to provide financial support for the Seabird Institute's world-class conservation and scientific work on the Islands every spring/summer. Their work since 1986 has restored and now maintains the most diverse water bird nesting islands in Maine, has provided training and valuable experience to countless environmental scientists, and has generated extensive data that help track changes to our local ecology.
In addition to the Islands' stewardship, the PNAS strives to raise awareness of and appreciation for local flora and fauna and how they interrelate through educational programs for children, this website, guided bird walks, visits to the Islands, and other outreach programs.
The PNAS is a registered 501(c)(3) charity. We rely entirely on donations to support our funding and programs. If you're inspired, we would certainly appreciate your support. To make a donation, please send your check made out to Prouts Neck Audubon Society, deliverable to the Prouts Neck Audubon Society, 499 Black Point Road, Scarborough, ME 04074.
